Abstract

The rapid development of social media has had a multidimensional impact on people's lives, particularly among students. The decline in morals and ethics in society is fueled by the increasing technological advancements worldwide. The content contained therein significantly influences the formation of people's character. Although social media offers benefits for communication and self-expression, the phenomenon of digital media misuse by adolescents indicates an increase in ethical and legal violations, such as hate speech, the spread of hoaxes, and cyberbullying. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital legal and ethics education through a counseling and mentoring program for students at SMP Negeri 18 Palembang. The method employed was a descriptive, qualitative approach with a participatory component, incorporating interactive seminars, simulations, and reflective evaluations. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of legal norms (particularly the ITE Law) and ethical values in digital interactions. In conclusion, strengthening legal literacy and digital moral education should be an integral part of the education system to create a healthy and responsible digital environment. It is hoped that with appropriate education, students can use social media wisely and responsibly, avoiding legal problems and creating a more positive digital environment.
